Supporting you to provide a safe and supportive service

Twenty10's training package, Here And Now, offers you the opportunity to consider how you can best provide a safe and welcoming service where young people feel safe to be themselves. The package introduces you to the latest research and thinking around sexual and gender identity and makes some helpful suggestions around what you can do when working with young people of diverse genders and sexualities.

Who should attend?
Anyone working with young people (school age up to 26 years of age) including youth workers, counsellors, teachers, school counsellors, doctors, nurses, reception staff and more.
Here and Now is tailored to the needs of your service or your local community. The package is particularly beneficial to regional communities - where participants come from a range of community and health services, schools, police and local residents.
We also offer specialised training at more advanced levels or can tailor or training to meet the needs of an in-service within a particular organisation. We are keen to explore what your needs may be, so contact us to talk about what is possible.
What are the outcomes of the training?
Here and Now will assist participants to:
-
Understand the differences between a person's gender, sex and sexual identities and how they are developed
-
Identify common themes and issues for young people of diverse genders, sexes and sexualities
-
Identify homophobic, transphobic and heterosexist behaviours and proactively challenge them
-
Identify strategies for building cultural appropriateness into their work practices
-
Identify resources and services to use with clients and workers
-
Develop a workplan to transform your learnings into actions
Participants become Here and Now Alumni and are offered specialised support from Twenty10 in implementing the strategies that emerge from the program.
