Q&A: An adaptive leadership program for established and emerging young leaders (aged 18-28) in the GLBT and queer communities

The aim of the Q&A Adaptive Leadership Program is to create resilient, effective and visible young people exercising leadership to the benefit of the GLBT, queer and wider communities.

The Q&A Program targets established or emerging leaders who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (GLBT), same sex attracted, gender diverse or queer and who are 18-28 years of age.

Q&A Objectives

Create a learning and experiential environment to undertake training in adaptive leadership,

Raise broader community awareness of the adaptive strengths of the GLBT and queer communities,

Capacity build the sectors involving GLBT and queer communities, and

Build the skills and capacities of established and emerging young leaders within the GLBT and queer communities.


What it involves

Over an six-month period, 15 to 20 participants will develop their leadership capacities through a structured program involving community engagement, experiential learning, personal reflection, mentoring and a project within the GLBT and queer communities.

Q&A is open to individuals with a commitment to community leadership and social change. It is about making a difference, and facing the complex challenges of our communities and our society.

Q&A will commence in March 2008.

Applicants

Q&A will develop your leadership capability by training you in adaptive leadership and providing you with practical leadership skills. You will develop skills in how to take action effectively and learn how to cope with the pressures of leadership.

Q&A will introduce you to community role models and leaders and establish you in a network of GLBT people committed to building a stronger community.
