Twenty10 will be participating in the 2012 Sydney Mardi Gras; A celebration of the GLBTIQ Communities. We may put links to some events on here that we think will be good for young people to attend.

Queer Prom Thursday 16th February 6-10pm

Queer Prom: it's the formal you've always dreamed of!

A free event. Thursday 16th February 6-10pm at The Red Rattler, 6 Faversham St Marrickville

Featuring performances by: Glitta Supernova, Wife, Dyan Tai, Rissa Dyson, Camille, Kyle Dessent, LaLa Whine, Cherry Le Pop and Ladee GahGah
DJs Bel West and Mr T
VJs Stainless and Sirmaamsir

Queer Prom is a drug and alcohol free event open to young people of diverse genders, sexes and sexualities, their allies and friends who are under 26yrs.

Getting Ready & Getting to Prom: Young people are welcome to prepare costumes and make-up at Twenty10 before Prom starts, between 5-6pm. There is a free bus service running between Twenty10 and the Red Rattler for the duration of the event. There will also be a free bus to Central Station at the end of Prom to assist young people to travel home.

Info for Parents: A space for parents, carers and adults who are providing lifts & support is available at the Red Rattler where they can hang out while their young people are at Prom.

The event is supervised by Twenty10 Staff members & volunteers from Camp Out. There will be 'Safe Prom Guidelines' in effect.

Do you want to march with Twenty10 in the Mardi Gras parade?

Each year Twenty10 marches in the Mardi Gras parade and we would like to invite you to join us! This year Twenty10 is celebrating it's 30th Anniversary - We're 30 years young! Our theme this year is "YOUR STORY IS OUR STORY", and we're asking you to share your story of Twenty10. We will be celebrating the three decades that Twenty10 has been open through song, dance and fantastic costume accessories!!

 

Get Involved in Mardi Gras

This year we're holdng some creative workshops in the lead up to the Mardi Gras Parade so you can get more involved in creating our float and choreography. We're planning a series of dance workshops so you can learn some moves and work with a dance teacher to create the choreography for our float. Workshops are NOT compulsory - you are still welcome to march with us. We'll teach you the dance on the day.

Papercuts
Celebrated poet and arresting performer CANDY ROYALLE will inspire young writers at a special Sydney Mardi Gras event developed by The Red Room Company.
When: 25th January 10am-4pm
Where: The Mullins Studio, Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, 597 High St, Penrith.

Neccesary Ego - Villany
Combining art, design, installation and photography Necessary Ego offers young LGBTQIs a playground in which to explore and recreate their favourite Villains.
When: 31st January and 14th February
Where: GL@M Kangaroo Street, Manly

Fair Day

Fair Day is a lovely relaxed day at the park and Twenty10 will have a stall so you can come and chat to us at the Youth Hub where there will be special youth performances and other delights!

When: Sunday 12th February 2012, 10am-8pm
Where: Victoria Park, City Rd, Chippendale

More info: If you haven't been to Fair Day before or you don't have anyone to go with, we'll be running two informal tours for young people at 11am and 2pm so come find out stall, have a chat with us and we can show you around!

Would you like to perform at the Youth Hub? For the first time, young people have the opportunity to sing, dance and act at Fair Day, with the launch of the inaugural youth hub. Queer Prom
Twenty10 and Camp Out present QUEER PROM!! A celebration for all creatures young and queer. It promises to be a spectacular evening and the kind of prom we have always wanted and will never forget!!

Post Prom Picnic
Twenty10 and Camp Out present POST PROM PICNIC a chillaxing day of activites and a BBQ. Come join us and unwind from Queer Prom as we hang out summer style and picnic in the air conditioning, relax, have fun, meet new people and catch up with old friends.

Late Night Shopping
Come be part of an interactive cabaret for young people 15+. MC deluxe, Tom Christophersen and guests will guide you through an evening of short and sharp acts, personal make-overs, dazzling dressage and portraiture, based on your own fantasies of VILLAINY.

Young Women's Project - Dangerous Doubles
Dead-ringers, doppelgangers and drag pageantry. ACON Young Women's Project presents an event exploring alter-egos, secret identities and gender-bending through performance and visual arts.

When: 24th February 2012, 6pm
Where: Serial Space, 33 Wellington Street, Chippendale 

2012 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras program is out now.
