Twenty10's Annual Hamper Appeal - Brighten up a young LGBTIQA+ person's holidays!

The Hamper Appeal is now closed for 2020 – thank you for your generosity! You can always donate to our general appeal if you’re still feeling generous.

As you may know, the end of the year can be a difficult time for some of the young and vulnerable LGBTIQA+ people that we work with at Twenty10. Also, like so many things this year, our 2020 Hamper Appeal will look a little different as we continue to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and service users.

In order to minimise the handling of goods and possible community transmission of Covid-19, we are asking for donations of gift cards that can be emailed or posted to our service. We will then distribute those gift cards to the amazing young people who have accessed our services this year.

Here are some suggestions from young people and Twenty10 staff.

These cards are useful when we have someone seeking emergency support. They might be homeless, have lost their income or are just having trouble making ends meet and need some extra support to buy food or travel on public transport.

These cards are really great as a little extra something to brighten someone’s day, buy some gender affirming clothing, makeup or accessories, or as an encouragement to get out of the house on a blue day.

Throughout this challenging year, Twenty10 has not stopped supporting young people. We have provided food hampers and gift cards particularly through the lock down period to the young folks in our transitional housing properties; Counselling continued and many young people embraced the opportunity to continue counselling online or via the telephone.

Whilst our face-to-face social supports including Drop In and Out West have been on hold due to the ongoing government restrictions, our team worked hard to create online social support groups called hangOUT via the Discord platform. We have provided increased and continuous support through QLife, through our training offerings and all our programs.

You can email your gift cards to us at If you don’t have the time to purchase a Gift Card, we are also accepting cash donations as the staff will be making up hampers for our housing clients, so cash donations will assist with this process as well as enable us to purchase gift cards. A mini fundraiser with colleagues or friends can be a great thing to do! You can donate here via GiveNow or using the form below. You can also make a direct deposit (email us for a receipt if you need one):
