The end of the year can be a difficult time. This is especially true for some of the young LGBTIQA+ people, many at risk of homelessness, that we work with at Twenty10.
For example, Maya* is a young trans woman whose family hasn’t been accepting of her transition. She has been living in our supported accommodation while studying. The end of the year is particularly hard for Maya because of her family’s rejection, but also because many services (including Twenty10) aren’t open during the last couple weeks of the year.
By providing Maya with a hamper with food, toiletries, and small gifts to lift her mood, we can make the end of the year a little bit brighter.
We’re finished collecting goods for the appeal, but we’re still collecting cash donations to go towards produce for our community pantry that young people can access all year and catering for our social support groups such as Out West, Drop In and Monthly Dinner.
