Hamper and Donation Appeal 2019 - Give food, gifts and more to young LGBTIQA+ people and Twenty10.

The end of the year can be a difficult time. This is especially true for some of the young LGBTIQA+ people, many at risk of homelessness, that we work with at Twenty10.

For example, Maya* is a young trans woman whose family hasn’t been accepting of her transition. She has been living in our supported accommodation while studying. The end of the year is particularly hard for Maya because of her family’s rejection, but also because many services (including Twenty10) aren’t open during the last couple weeks of the year.

By providing Maya with a hamper with food, toiletries, and small gifts to lift her mood, we can make the end of the year a little bit brighter.

Every year, Twenty10 collects goods for these hampers to distribute to the young LGBTIQA+ people who use our service at the end of the year. Anything that we can’t fit in those hampers goes into our pantry to be used throughout the year. We’re also collecting cash donations to go towards hamper goods for young people, produce for our community pantry that young people can access all year, and catering for our social support groups such as Out West, Drop In and Monthly Dinner.
